祖父板龙属（属名：Plateosauravus，意为“板龙的祖父”）是种板龙科恐龙，生存于三叠纪晚期的南非。在1924年，西德尼·霍顿（Sidney Haughton）根据部分骨骸而建立了柯氏板龙（Plateosaurus cullingworthi）[1]。 在1932年，德国古生物学家休尼博士将它们独立为个别的属，柯氏祖父板龙（P. cullingworthi）[2]。在1976年，Jacques van Heerden将它们重新归类于优肢龙，并被学界普遍接受[3]。然而，最近的研究显示优肢龙化石无法鉴定，而亚当·耶茨（Adam Yates）在他的蜥脚形亚目与基础蜥脚下目研究中，他并没有采用优肢龙，而且使用祖父板龙来取代优肢龙[4][5][6]。
自从1995年以来，已在南非克留格尔国家公园发现20多个部分骨骼化石，其中包含未成年个体。
