安全搜索
安全搜索（英语：SafeSearch）是Google搜索的一大特性，可以自动过滤掉色情和具有潜在冒犯性的内容。Google对色情内容的过滤成为维持与中共当局合作的一大重要因素。[1]
2003年，哈佛法学院伯克曼互联网与社会研究中心的一份报告显示，安全搜索过滤掉了白宫、IBM、美国图书馆协会和丽姿·克莱本等许多无害的网站。[2]而另一方面，许多色情图片也成为了过滤器的漏网之鱼。关键词过滤机制不能阻挡用同形词（如“beaver”，女性的阴毛或阴部的一种粗俗说法，但该词同时可以表示河狸）绕过过滤的情形。[3]同时，阻挡色情网站网址的机制也会因为网站网址的更替而失效。而由于肤色的多样化，加上婴儿的照片也通常带有大量肉色，用软体将带有肉色的图片识别为色情图片亦引发了许多问题。[4]
2009年11月11日，Google引入了安全搜索锁定功能，[5] 该功能能让持有Google账户的使用者锁定在安全搜索中的高强度模式。一旦开启这项功能，用户在登出Google账户之后，搜索过滤强度不会发生任何变化。而另一项功能KidzSearch则让安全搜索总是开启。这项功能保证儿童在使用Google进行搜索时，搜索结果会被严格过滤。[6]2012年12月12日，Google移除了完全关闭安全搜索的功能。[7][8][9]
