國際足協世界盃（英語：FIFA World Cup），是由國際足球協會於1930年成立的一項足球比賽，國際足球協會成員國的男子國家足球隊有資格參加。賽事除了1942年和1946年因第二次世界大戰而取消外，每4年舉行一次。上屆的國際足協世界盃於2018年在俄罗斯舉行，決賽結果為法国國家足球隊以4–2擊敗克罗地亚國家足球隊，獲得第二次世界盃冠軍

決賽是國際足協世界盃的最後一場比賽，獲勝隊伍即為當屆世界盃冠軍。決賽法定時間一般為90分鐘，如在法定時間內未能分出勝負則進行30分鐘的加時賽，若依然未能分出勝負则進行互射十二碼階段，以分出最终勝負[1]。除了1950年世界盃外，歷屆世界盃決賽均採用單敗淘汰制來進行比賽。1950世界盃是世界盃史上唯一一次採用小组循环赛制的決賽，由該屆赛事四个分组賽首名（巴西國家足球隊、西班牙國家足球隊、瑞典國家足球隊和烏拉圭國家足球隊）相互比赛3场，決賽組積分最高的球隊為世界盃冠軍。其中|巴西對陣烏拉圭的賽事為決定性的一場，此場比賽為當屆舉行的最後兩場賽事之一，最終烏拉圭以2比1擊敗巴西，使他們在決賽組積分榜上反超前巴西而成為冠軍。因此，國際足球協會視之為當屆真正的決賽[2]。

賽事舉辦至今，共有77支球隊曾進入世界盃決賽週[3]。77隊之中，只有12支曾打入決賽，8支球隊奪冠（其中6支是首度打入決賽即奪冠）。迄今为止，世界杯历史上最成功的球隊是巴西，共获得过5次冠軍[4]；義大利和德國均获得过4次冠軍[註 1]；阿根廷、法國和烏拉圭各获得过2次冠軍；英格兰和西班牙則各获得过1次冠軍。[5]
