沙美特羅^[1] 是一種用於預防哮喘以及慢性阻塞性肺病突然發作的藥物。^[2] 這些疾病發作時的症狀有呼吸困難、喘鳴、咳嗽和胸悶。它可以用於預防運動期間出現的呼吸困難。^[3]

研發沙美特羅的製藥廠於1983年獲得沙美特羅的專利。1990年，沙美特羅投入臨床使用^[4]。
